1997-1998: The Recording Studio

Washington School in Pekin, Illinois became the “recording studio” for the 33rd Band’s first attempt at making a CD. After much “sweat and tears” and many individual battles with antique brass instruments, the first recording was accomplished and was called “Hardtack and Coffee”.

Jubilee State Historic Site and Park offered a serene setting for the band in 1997. The band played at Princeton’s “Shadows of the Blue and Gray”, “North Meets South” at Comlara Park near Normal, and at the “Old State Capitol” in Springfield.
